Day 38: Aug 10 (Homer, AK)
Fishing trip is not today, so we decided to go to Homer, AK. Even if Jeff and I had been to Homer, we thought we would show Don. Besides theres always more to see and a new adventure to be had!
Driving to Homer:

We are at the end of the Spit in Homer:

We ate at the Boardwalk Fish & Chips "Where the Fish Comes on a Stick". We had a basket of Halibut & Fries and Cod & Coleslaw to split between the 3 of us. It was really tasty, but expensive. I wish I would have remembered to get a picture of the food, but we were Hungry. Need I say more?
We stopped at the Islands & Ocean Visitor Center on the way out of town. Here you can view daily films, explore the exhibits and displays, join a ranger-led activity, or hike the Beluga Slough Trail in search of wildlife along the tidelands of Bishops Beach. It is free and open to the public year-around.
Beluga Slough Trail is right behind Don and Jeff:

Islands & Ocean Visiter Center is a Visitor Center for the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge.
This center is our window to the largest seabird refuge in the world.

This was a display that explained the currents, birds and more on the Aleutian Islands, which is all part of the Refuge. It was very interesting.
