Day 29: Aug 1 (Kenai Peninsula-Johnson Lake/Tustumena Lake)

We did go check out Johnson Lake and Tustumena Lake today, for future Kayak possibilities. I am doing better, but am not up for Kayaking today.

Johnson Lake State Recreation Area and Campground:

Johnson Lake Campground is really nice. Its well kept and clean. Only has pit toilettes. Fishings allowed. We do plan on coming back to Johnson Lake and go Kayaking.

Tustumena Lake is just east of Johnson Lake. We went to the boat launch and talked to a local, who was very helpful. If you look at the map of the lake, you can see that we would have to kayak up the river to get to the lake. Also, this local told us, we would need a couple days by kayak. Looked like it would be an amazing lake to check out, but I would want a power boat to do it. There was camping at the boat ramp area and a pit toilette. Not near as nice as Johnson Lake Campground.
