Day 48: (Prince George, BC - Bellingham, WA) 501 miles-- END of TRIP

Image
Prince George, BC to Bellingham, WA This was the only wild life we saw on this stretch of the road. Scenery we saw on this stretch: Frazer River: This was some rafters on the Fraser River. The big boat was motor operated and the second smaller boat was people operated. Looks like a blast either way. This was a good place to eat. I can't remember the town it is by, but if I can find my receipt I will update and let you know where this was. Jeff had some awesome homemade mushroom soup. I have to admit, I have not been writing things down as they happen as we are at the end of our trip and we are just ready to be home. So I can't remember all we had, but I know it was good. Fat Jacks! We have had a great trip! We have been very fortunate to be able to drive to Alaska and Back!! Also, it has been a lot of fun Blogging our trip so that our Family and Friends can follow along on the trip or just read about the wonders of Alaska. I will do one last BLOG entry.

Day 47: Aug19 (Fort Nelson - Prince George) 550 miles

Fort Nelson to Prince George: Nope we did not see any critters this morning at our camp site! We did have road work off and on: This was true thru out our trip. Alaska Highway is just a 2 lane highway, however it is a pretty good road overall. Lots of road work, because the cold weather does a number on the roads. These chainsaw carvings are the result of the Chetwynd, BC- International Chainsaw Carving Championship, that is a yearly event the second weekend in June. Tonight we spent the night in the parking lot of the Casino in Prince George. Nope not cause we wanted to gamble all night. I could not find a camp ground in the area that was not full or RV camping only. So the parking lot looked pretty good, since we were really tired. We did gamble. The money we made going to Alaska, we lost. *You win some, you lose some!

Day 46: Aug 18 (Whitehorse, YK - Fort Nelson, BC) 610 miles

This morning we were up early on our way to the bathroom and a fox was about 4 feet from Jeff. He thought it was going to come right up to him and then it saw me and walked around us to eat some berries about 12 feet from us. Of course by the time I got to my camera he was gone. Awesome Sauce!! Whitehorse to Fort Nelson: At Johnson's Crossing we stopped and picked up some goodies at the Bakery. The Cherry and Apple turnovers were delicious. Cinnamon Rolls were also good. Scones we did not care for. Good place to check out. This rest stop was just down the road from this bakery. I loved the way it was landscaped! The gravel road on the left of this sign is highway 6 to Ross River, Yukon. Yep its gravel all the way. This was on the road by Swift River. We stopped to get a good picture of the bridge below and decided to explore this RV park. We drove thru it and the Container RV was parked in one of the spots. We thought it was so cool how they built it and even had a de

Day 45: Aug 17 (Tok, AK - Whitehorse, Yukon) 420 miles

Happy Anniversary  To US!!  We started the day out at the Tok RV Village RV park, where we had stayed on the way to Alaska.  While we were getting ready to go a squirrel was hopping from tree to tree, knocking down the pine cones. In this picture you can see he's on his way to another tree. He was doing this until we left. We figured the winters must be pretty cold if he's working this hard to get his stores up! Tok, AK to Whitehorse, Yukon: If you go to Alaska or Canada, I highly recommend going to all the visitors centers. Most all have more then just travel information. Many have history, demonstrations and more. They are all very helpful!! This one was in Alaska before the Canadian Border.. This was the Refuge behind the visitors station where you can go hiking and fishing. One of the type of fish that are in these lakes. On the road: These pictures were taken in the Yukon. We noticed the trees were turning fall colors already. We ended up staying a

Day 44: Aug 16 (Beach House-Tok, AK) 485 miles

Now its time for Jeff and I to say good-bye! We have had a great time here at Jan and Don's Beach House. Even when I was sick and felt like going no where, I still had a view of Alaska out of the Beach House Windows. Thank you Jan and Don! We will see you down South and may even beat you there! Jan said we have to get Toni in this. So we gave it to Jeff, who had the longest arms. But when he reached out the camera in front of him, he said Wheres Jan? So all of us except Jan had to look down so she could get in the picture. HA! LOL! Koah posing for the camera: I thought this was too cute of Jan: Home Away From Home: Took Orange road from Kasilof to Tok, AK: Along the road: Road work: *Follow the Orange Road!
