Day 11: July 14, 2016
Today we explored a road going out of Healy, AK. It was fun to just take off and see whats out in
this big beautiful wild country.
This would be the first thing we saw at the start of this road. They did not have any big grocery stores in this area. We went in this store to get coffee, but no coffee. It looked like lots of liquor, but not much food on the shelves.
We drove about 4 miles and came across the Healy Power Plant. Which is the kind of place that Jeff would work at, if there was a job there.
When we were driving down this road this gate was open and the only thing we saw was the sign
"Traps In Area"! So when we came back the GATE was CLOSED!! Oh, NO!!
We did get out or you would not be reading this! The gate was not locked, but I did have to muscle the gate open!
So we drove up into the wilderness and found a Coal mining operation. Surprised us! When we drove up to the operation a guy in a pickup truck approached us. Jeff said: 'What the Hell you guys doing Here"! As if Jeff was in charge! The guy said: "What the Hell you doing Here"! Then they became buds and he told everything and more. He said there was good views at the end of this road and so we checked it out. But imagine our surprise, to seeing a BIG Coal mining operation at the end of this road. I did not get pictures. But it was pretty big! Lots of Equipment, Dirt and Men!
The day is not over. We are now back in Denali National Park doing a 2 mile hike. We have met 3 people only. We saw no critters, but it was nice to stretch our legs and enjoy the park.
The day is still not over. We ended up taking a little walk around the Denali Village right in the heart of tourist land. It was quiet when we were there. We were sitting outside looking at the stage (night time concerts), and Jeff was FARTING. These Young Characters walked by us and was talking loudly. I jumped up and said Im getting out of here because Jeff packs a powerful punch! I walked into a store, with Jeff on my heels. Meanwhile, security witnessed the episode, mistaking the kids for the reason we vacated. She followed us into the store and asked us if the Young Characters did something to make us Vacate so suddenly. She would have them removed. So Jeff confessed he had Flatulation! I asked if she could remove JEFF!!
